Carbon Offset Fee

The Appalachia Funders Network is dedicated to investing in the long term health and resilience of Appalachia. As a result, the Network is collaborating with the Appalachian Carbon Partnership (ACP). The ACP, a project of the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED), is a powerful model for promoting the practice of sustainable forestry management on private, non-industrial forestland. This program is the first in Central Appalachia to compensate forest landowners for the carbon sequestered by their sustainably managed forests, linking the global issue of climate change directly to local economic development in Central Appalachia.

This year Appalachia Funders Network will offer participants the opportunity to offset their emissions incurred by travel and lodging. Participants will be asked at checkout if they wish to pay a $12.07 fee in addition to their registration fee, which will be used to offset these emissions. For more information, please visit the ACP website.
